Practice – Grouping your source material

There are two parts to this practice activity. In Part 1 you are going to interpret an essay question. In Part 2, you are going to try to place the notes a student has taken while researching this question into a synthesis grid.

Part 1. Interpreting the essay question

Read the following essay question from the field of business management. Analyse the question by identifying the:

  • instruction words
  • content words
  • value words
  • scoping words
