This unit gives you guidelines on how and when to use quotes and paraphrases from the source materials you have read. It gives you formatting rules for presenting quotes and some strategies to help you to paraphrase well.

There is an example of how you can use quotes and paraphrasing strategically, to begin to build your own argument and present it in your writing.

This site contains many examples from texts written by students. The University of Sydney takes no responsibility for errors made by students, either in interpreting the original content, or in acknowledging the original sources.
