There are a number of referencing conventions, so find out what your faculty or department requires for bibliographies and reference lists, footnotes and endnotes, in-text referencing and direct quotations before you begin reading and writing.

Use the University sites to help you, but always check with your faculty, department or subject for the final word. Faculty requirements for details such as punctuation can vary from those given in general style guidelines.
