A note about non-print-based sources

Academic disciplines vary in their attitude to non-print-based sources. Sources which may be considered questionable in one discipline (or for one type of assessment task) may be acceptable in another.

Non-print-based sources of evidence are appropriate in certain disciplines and/or in some assessment questions. These disciplines may include:

  • Media Studies
  • Communication Studies
  • Women’s Studies
  • Aboriginal Studies
  • Music
  • Art History & Theory
  • Architecture
  • Visual Arts
  • Drama
  • English and languages other than English

Always check with your department, tutor or lecturer before beginning work on an assessment task.
